Bilal and Amer are friends and neighbors who enjoy playing and spending quality time together. They play basketball and race each other. But there was something unique about their relationship, which children will discover at the end of the book. The image of Amer in his wheel chair at the end of the book allows children to see others with disabilities in the same light, having the same interests and desires as everyone else.
This simple story allows parents and educators to discuss disabilities with children and the idea of accepting others who might be different. It also provides an opportunity to discuss how a friend can be helpful and supportive.
